Fourth of July:
Free Parking and Sno-Kones

Parker Road Baptist Church is one block west of the James J. Eagan Civic Center, which is located at 1 Civic Center Drive in Florissant.  On Independence Day, 4th of July, the Civic Center hosts a fireworks display which has a prime viewing hill behind the school located across the street from Parker Road Baptist Church.  An estimated four thousand plus people view the display across the street from the church.

In 1998, Parker Road began a ministry of opening the church parking lot for the community event.  In addition, volunteers made free sno-kones and gave out evangelistic tracts to those coming to view the fireworks. The first year, about 200 sno-kones made with a borrowed machine were handed out.  Now, with a church-owned sno-kone machine, along with an additional unit, PRBC operates two sno-kone stations.  Last year, in 2005, PRBC gave out 1,600 free sno-kones and distributed more than 2,000 tracts.

PRBC relies on about 25 volunteers who make sno-kones, distribute tracts, and serve as parking lot attendants to carry on this ministry.
