School Adoption

With a desire to have an impact on the community, members of Parker Road only had to look across the street.   The church is located across the street from Parker Road Elementary School.  In addition, the school district office and McCluer North High School are located around the corner.

In 2000, the Parker Road congregation decided to "adopt" the schools.  Prayer for the students, teachers and administration became a top priority.  Parker Road developed a strategy to communicate with the schools.  Members bake cookies and brownies to deliver for the first day that teachers report back to school.  Each tray of treats has a stand-up sign that welcomes the teachers back and promises prayer for "you, your students and the administration" for the year.  The first year the church delivered 90 dozen of goodies.  The program has increased to include five elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and two school district offices.

Parker Road also serves as an advocate for Moms in Touch involvemenet and the creation of new groups in schools which do not have a group.

Suggestions for interceding for our schools, their administration, staff, teachers, and students.

The school districts in our area that Parker Road has membership involvement in are Ferguson/Florissant, Hazelwood, and Riverview.

Spiritual Concern

Pray for the salvation of all persons associated with our schools.  Pray that those who know Christ will grow closer to Him and live out their Christianity for all to see.

Administration

Pray for God's guidance on the school administration to make the right choices concerning curriculum, methods, educational requirements and goals.  Pray for the administration to be directed by Biblical values and high moral standards.

Teachers

Pray that they will strive to teach with excellency and creativity.  Pray that they will be effective motivators in the teaching/learning process.  Pray that God will bless them with good health, emotionally and physically.  Ask God to bless them in their personal life and their family.  Ask God to help them with their personal problems.

Students

Pray that students will participate in a positive way to each learning opportunity presented to them.  Pray they will learn from discipline.  Pray that the student will make the right choices.  Pray that they will develop positive, healthy relationships with other students and teachers.  Pray for their protection from harm to and from school and while they are there.  Pray for active involvement of their parents in the child's education.

Security

Pray for the safety and security of the school campus.

These are just a few suggestions on how to pray for our school.  Ask the Lord to show you other areas for prayer concerns.  Let's pray without ceasing for our schools.
